Plan your ride

Málaga by bike

Málaga rewards a bike more than most Mediterranean cities: the seafront is long and flat, the centre is compact, and the distances that feel awkward on foot become five minute rides.

What the riding is like

Along the coast you get long, level, separated stretches where an ordinary bike is plenty. Inland the ground tilts quickly towards the hills, and that is where an e-bike stops being a luxury. In the old centre expect narrow streets, pedestrians and frequent stops, so plan it as a slow section rather than a distance to cover.

Rent, or take a guide

Rent when you already know roughly what you want to see, or when you want the bike for several days. Take a guided tour when you want the city explained and the route decided for you: the three hour Regular Tour at €45 covers the city, and the four hour Premium tours at €79 and €89 build the ride around breakfast, lunch or an evening of food stops.

Starting from Calle Ollerias

The DutchFellas store sits on Calle Ollerias 18, a short ride north of the historic centre, and the guided tours leave from Calle Ollerias 22 and 24 and from our partner cafes. That puts the centre, the port and the seafront within easy reach of your first ten minutes on the bike.

Common questions

Do I need an e-bike in Málaga?
Not for the seafront, which is flat. For the viewpoints and anything heading inland, an e-bike turns a hard climb into an ordinary ride.
When is the best time of day to ride?
Early morning and the last hours before sunset, especially in summer. The middle of the day is better spent somewhere shaded with the bike locked up.
Can I ride from Málaga to the neighbouring towns?
Coastal rides out of the city are realistic on an e-bike within a day rental. Tell the counter where you are heading and we will check the bike range and the return time with you.
